Padi open water certification weekend and first women dive day!

Another weekend at dutch springs. This time to complete the open water checkout dives for Allie and Joe.  The sky is looking scarry but the diving will be great.

Come back soon to see how they did with their dives and to congratulate them on a job well done at the end of the weekend.

If you are in the area come out and dive with us. LSC will have many divers here this weekend celebrating the first National women’s dive day.

Diving with Drones?

Check out what a guy from Gloucester, MA found while flying his drone!

Basking Sharks are sometimes mistaken for Great Whites.

The basking shark is the second largest living fish, after the whale shark, and one of three plankton-eating sharks besides the whale shark and megamouth shark. It is a cosmopolitan migratory species, found in all the world’s temperate oceans.

Travis’s Speciality Weekend

First off please excuse the typos. I am sitting here at 11:00 Pm in my tesnt on my tablet typing this post. The reas for this is that I keep saying I need to update my blog but time does not allow for it.

Today we had a later start then I wanted but that was because it was very busy here at Dutch Springs. We did three dives today for Travis who is visting us from Colorado while attending some of his Military training at a local PA base. todays dives included

– Dry Suit dive 2

– Wreck dive 2 and 3

All dives went amazingly well. The first dive was 20 minutes to wrap up his remainig skill requirements for drysuit. We surfaced with plenty of air that we headed back down after a 5 minute surface interval to map out the wreck of the Comet that sits at 55 to 60 feet here at Dutch. Once done we debriefed on both dives and discussed entry and exit points along the wreck along with good tie off locations and hazards to look for.

Travis’ s went on today to do two more dives with fellow LSC divers while Itook the time to site back and relax.

For tomorrow we have on our plate the following dives:

– Deep Dive for Elliott

– Nav dive 3 and Nav dive for Travis and Elliott

– Wreck dive 4 and Wreck for Travis and Elliott

It should be a fun time. For now it is time for bed.

Adam’s checkout Dives 1 and 2

What nice dives. The water at Dutch springs was not as clear as normal do to several days of hard rain but we still had over 25 feet of it. The first dive we explored along the student side hitting the platforms, fire truck and feeding the bass. After a nice 20 minute dive we headed up to complete the dive at 21 minutes. We hung out on the surface and debriefed, swaped out tanks and went over the use of the compass. After about a hour surface interval we geared up and headed in to do dive two. Once the skills were completed we hit the 50 foot boat and followed the wall around back to the docks. Completed dive 2 with a max depth of 50 feet and time of 22 minutes. Water at 50 feet was 45 degrees and at 20 about 54. Now we are enjoying a nice lunch at wegmans before the trip home.

Otter Dry suit with Weasel Extreme Plus for sale

The suit is about 5 years old and has a bunch of dives on it though it is in great condition. I took very good care of that suit. It has a brand new zipper and new seals. (both neck and wrist). The suit was sent out to a specialist in Florida two months ago to have all that work done. While the suite was there it was pressure and leak tested. The total cost of all that work was over 400 dollars. I have dove the suit about 15 times since the work was done and each time I have come out dry as a bone. The specialist did put one patch and patched it inside and out to ensure it would not leak. After each dive it was hosed off dry inside and out and then stored in its bag. The suit was a custom size. I purchased it when I was 5′ 10″ and weighed close to 300lbs. I have used that suite since and have been as low as 220 lbs and it was still a good fit especially with the under garment on. So you can see you have a range of room with this suit. The suit is heavy duty and has held up amazingly to many wreck diving adventures and classes I have taught. The suit is blue and black and has attached boots with hard bottom.

The suite comes with
1. Suit Bag
2. Suit
3. Weasel Extreme Plus undergarment.

The only reason I am selling the suit is I am buying a new suit through a great instructor promo and no longer need this suit. I am looking to let it all go for 350 + shipping. The suit is located in Lancaster PA. I can meet at Dutch Springs or Bainbrdige as well. Reasonable offers will be thought about. Pictures to come soon I have to unpack it and take some.

Any questions please feel free to ask.
